Laura George and Becca Hall Presented with Awards

During the 2010 Christmas party for Tyler Type One, Laura George (left) and Becca Hall (right) were honored for their service and commitment to the Type 1 community. Laura George received the first annual Dr. Frederick Banting Award for her "relentless determination and service" to Tyler Type One. Becca Hall was presented the first annual Dr. Charles Best Award for her "unwavering loyalty and service" to Tyler Type One. We are very grateful for their time and effort in helping us experience tremendous growth and success our first year as a foundation. Dr. Banting and Dr. Best discovered insulin in the early 1920's. Without this discovery, children living with Type 1 diabetes would not be able to live. This award is very meaningful to the Type 1 community and is a symbol of our deep appreciation.

Lydia Forehand and a friend recently sold cookies and muffins in their neighborhood to raise money for Type 1 Diabetes. They raised $82 for Tyler Type One. Thank you so much girls for your hard work we hope you had fun too! Lydia was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 2.

A special thanks to Drew Sherrell for raising $400.00 for the Tyler Type 1 Diabetes Foundation in his Dimes for Diabetes drive. Drew, along with some of his classmates put empty milk cartons with the Tyler Type One logo on it and placed it in various rooms at school. Students and teachers brought their dimes to school and raised $400.00. (Maybe this will inspire you to do the same in your school!) Way to go Drew! Thank you from Tyler Type One!!!
